The educational institution was created after the merger of two schools – a shoe school, founded in the 1930s, and a private girls’ clothing school “Prosveta”, founded in 1932. In 1949, it was transformed into a factory-factory class for a shoe factory “9. IX.” In 1956, the school became SPTU, and in 1957 – a technical school specializing in “Shoe Production Technology”. For the last 15 years, the school has been training children in the specialty “Machines and equipment in the sewing and shoe industry”.
The school dates back to 1893. This is the first girls’ vocational school in Bulgaria, founded on the initiative of the “Mother” charitable society, chaired by prominent Bulgarian public figures Yordanka Filaretova and Ekaterina Karavelova.
