Employment and Entrepreneurship Programme at Caritas Bethany Job Fair in Plovdiv

For the first time the Career Centre of BCO “Caritas Betania”, in partnership with the Regional Centre for Development of Social Economy Focus Point, organized a job fair for unemployed youth and people from vulnerable groups, including Ukrainian and Syrian refugees, with whom the Foundation works in the town of Betania. The project is aimed at the Roma and refugees, who are among the Roma and Syrian refugees in Plovdiv. It was held on 27 May 2024 at the Regional Centre RSI in Plovdiv. The Employment and Entrepreneurship programme was presented  Ms Veronika Kertikova – Regional Coordinator. The labour exchange is part of the Access to the labour market for refugees from Ukraine and other countries of origin initiative, implemented by the network of Caritas organizations in Bulgaria, in partnership with UNHCR.

The main objective of the event was to inform employers about the specifics of hiring and working with people from vulnerable groups, to support the employment and integration of refugees from third countries (Ukraine, Syria) and Bulgarian citizens from vulnerable groups (youth, mothers with children up to 4 years, people in disadvantaged situations, etc.), as well as employers to present their activities, current vacancies and development prospects.

Employers from various industries, such as outsourcing, furniture manufacturing, electrical engineering, trade, jewellery making, service delivery, the Directorate of Labour Office – Plovdiv, etc took part in the job fair. The interest of job seekers was also great. Young students and unemployed refugees had the opportunity to talk first-hand with the different companies, ask their questions, get information about the method of work and the necessary documents for application, to melt the boundary and naturally create a symbiosis of continuity.
