At the end of July 2021 four groups of young people successfully completed the English language course, part of Earning by Learning project managed by Trust for Social Achievement Foundation.
41 young people from Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Sliven and Burgas took part in a total of 90 English lessons, which were divided into groups according to the level of preparation – A1, A2, B1 and B2.
At the end of August the project team met with the volunteer English teachers. The English language course, as well as the computer literacy course, are online classes organised by the First Steps for Professional Development project. Their main objective is to improve the language and technical knowledge and skills of young people aged 18-29 from economically vulnerable guppies. The main idea of the project is to make youth more prepared and more competitive in the labour market.
The purpose of the meeting held with the volunteer teachers was to share observations, challenges, lessons learned and successes reaped. All the teachers shared positive feedback and Vesela (B1 group teacher) said that teaching young people is now one of her dreams come true. Within these groups, four teachers were engaged along with a guest teacher from the USA for the period April-July 2021.
Earning by Learning project is funded by the EEA within the Youth Employment Programme.
