First meeting with mentors under “Earning by Learning” project funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment, took place in the office of Arete Youth Foundation – Bulgaria.
Three mentors in the cities of Sofia, Sliven and Plovdiv join the project to provide mentoring support to young people from vulnerable groups aged 15-29.
The role of the mentors will be to motivate the youth in achieving higher educational level and better quality employment and persuading families to provide a supporting base.Mentors will participate in the process of selecting the project participants; will define the basic skills and needs of young people; will carry out meetings for career orientation and counseling for personal development; will assist locally on the implementation of social skills trainings. The mentors will work closely with a local project coordinator appointed by the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation who will provide individual mentoring in identifying relevant positions, searching for job openings etc.
During the meeting, a common understanding of the project goals and opportunities was achieved; valuable ideas and solutions were shared, action plan for the next few months was outlined.
The project “Find your way to the world of work” is funded by the EEA and Norway Grants and its objective is to support disadvantaged young people between 15 and 29 years old to have equal access to education and quality jobs.
